The most important ingredients to achieve this are finding a suitable subject; analysing what is essential to the painting; improving the composition; planning the tonal range; choosing the palette of colours; and executing the brushstrokes with simplicity and confidence. Personal style development is encouraged and course numbers are limited to 12 to facilitate individual learning. Anne is essentially a "plein air" painter - working in the field wherever possible. The winter/spring indoor courses therefore are designed to help the student master the difficult medium of watercolour and, when the weather is warmer, to paint on location, where watercolour is the ideal medium for capturing quick changes in light and mood.
Flower and garden painters will love the Flower Painting course with the freedom of a large, light studio to work in and will also gain inspiration from the surrounding beautiful garden. All the courses at Broadway Foot are full days, with tuition from 09.30 -16.30. The studio remains open until 19.00 for (optional) personal painting time. Accommodation, if required, is left to personal choice as there are numerous hotels; guest-houses; holiday cottages, etc. in the near vicinity. A list of suggested establishments is on the website. In the summer months Anne travels to Scotland, Sardinia and northern Tuscany where students can benefit from her painting expertise in superb locations and a congenial holiday atmosphere.
